Tubuläre Tänze is a six-part suite involving voice, saxophone, bass clarinet, sampled sounds, assorted percussion, and miscellaneous instruments, all performed by Helmut Lemke (or so it seems). There is very little dancing in these strange and haunted short pieces. From the light percussion work of “Tänze 1” to the loud string scratching of “Tänze 3,” the listener experiences a surreal “tour de chant.
