Stepmother - Bring me Flowers and tell me you Love me

A highly enjoyable album by this ever-refreshing avant-rock group based partly in Zürich, partly in Rotterdam. Bill Gilonis, Tisa World, Lukas Simonis, Philipp Ernsting and Jeroen Visser now form the line-up, and compared to the first Stepmother album “Calvary Greetings”, on this album from 2025 they sound even more eclectic, with nifty electronics, polyphonic horn sections, gritty guitars and inspired drumming. Tisa is a multi-talented singer and text writer, bringing a Brecht/Weill opera feel to the songs, while the guys provide some dadaistic group-singing here and there, not to forget some scattered alienated voice treatments.
“Having pingpong-ed material between Zurich and Rotterdam for the last 10 years while searching for the missing parts, with the advent of singer Tisa World and drummer Philipp Ernsting we finished the album in a breeze, and left no musical stone unturned nor studio technique ignored for this dynamic-in-more-than-one-way album.”
