Oiseaux-Tempête’s post-rock, which is as anxiety-inducing as it is cathartic, through their eponymous debut album. Now they’re back, remixed, allowing us to rediscover their dark atmospheres under electronic auspices. Don’t expect to hear any dancefloor invitations, though: the darkness remains and the skies of these electronic birds are still as stormy as ever.
It is telling that so many artists from different musical backgrounds have been happily recruited to re-work tracks from the original album. Scanner, Witxes, Machinefabriek, Jasper TX’s Dag Rosenqvist and Do Make Say Think‘s Justin Small all provide stand-out contributions. It would certainly befit the trio’s sound, which has, finally, got that tightrope sewn together again.
