Kraakpen is made by Videozap and De Gaskamerman, both of whom are adept at playing an impressive array of musical intruments, the telephone directory being one of these. The CD, in an artfully decorated case, contains 8 tracks*, and is issued in a limited edition of 50 numbered copies. Further contents are a number of xeroxed drawings, a piece of text (densely printed) and a sheet with liner notes. In the own words of the co-founder, Tim Donker, who is still a prolific writer (and who continued publishing the zine Leve Kraakpen by himself), “Het werkveld was het experiment. In kunst, in muziek, in literatuur. Beschrijvend (in essays, artikelen, overdenkingen, recensies), maar ook aktief (in proza, poëzie, tekeningen, fotoreeksen)… Het tijdschrift moest zelfs zo vormvrij zijn, dat het niet per se als tijdschrift hoefde te verschijnen. Het kon ook uitkomen als boek, als seedee, als multimediale performance”.
