Eugene Chadbourne and Jim McHugh - Highway 23
Eugene brought these in 2024 when he was touring The Netherlands. He is always dragging loads of merchandise with him, as a true ambassador of the House of Chadula should do. This one sounds like what it looks like. Country music with a twist, by a duo that go back some time, and… partly recorded in Nashville, “at Mike Lawson’s”. Other tracks were made at Brooklyn’s Pioneer studios. McHugh is credited playing “guitars phin” which means the type of guitar that is played in Thai popular music (body, neck and tuning head are usually carved from one piece of wood. Chadbourne plays banjos, guitars and sings. Highlights include new Chadbourne originals such as Holocostco, Highway 23 and Warnings.
Home-baked CD in a home-printed paper cover, with a warning: some CD-players don’t accept the DIY disc, my antiqe Aiwa discman had no trouble with it.
