Ben Rivers - Ways of Worldmaking

Ways of Worldmaking is the first comprehensive monograph on British filmmaker Ben Rivers (born 1972). In recent years, Rivers has been celebrated as one of the most important experimental filmmakers of his generation. Often following people who have in some way separated themselves from society, the raw film footage provides Rivers with a starting point for creating oblique narratives imagining alternative existences in marginal worlds.
In recent years, Rivers has been celebrated as one of the most important experimental filmmakers of his generation. The series of exhibitions collected in this book explore the diversity and breadth of his work. Four museum institutions – Camden Arts Centre in London, Kunstverein in Hamburg, The Renaissance Society in Chicago and La Triennale di Milano – presented solo exhibitions dedicated to Rivers’s practice.

In the book, Rivers looks back on his extensive oeuvre, speaking about each of his films, illustrated with stills. Added are some transcripts, loads of photographs, and texts by Renee Gladman, Melissa Gronlund, Ed Halter, Andrea Picard and others. Any film or even book lover will love this publication already by the look of it!
