Mecano Un-Ltd - Erector Set, Rebuilt
LP from 2014 by an incarnation of Mecano by the wonderful Dutch multi-artist Dirk Polak. Mecano gained fame in the 1980s as an innovative new wave / post punk band. Polak explained the new form of Mecano as follows:
“Erector Set is the name given to Meccano in the USA.
To continue my visual arts based upon this wellknown constructive toy of the twentieth century after the rural Mecano years, I chose this equivalent to cover a different angle from the same familytree. Exercises of my poetry cyclus Single Makes Mass, full in progress then, were set to songs by Mick Ness and me. With the addition of some soundscapes he made, mainly in Hungary, an album took shape that was kept in the vaults, like a good wine so to speak.
It is a fair time now to trade with Out Of Print and make things happen in a proper way to those who were involved and those who will be.” (Dirk Polak, 2014)
