Prins & Simonis - Mothers of Exit II
Their second album after (yes) Mothers of Exit I that came out in 2021. They write that “the sound is even more harsh but there are signs of occasional drips of melody and the pieces with some kind of groove remind us of the ‘ole’ krautrock shit gone horribly wrong. What’s not to like?” It is true about the groove, several tracks are built on relentlessly rocking brutalist rhythms.
- Gert-Jan Prins played drums, cymbals, radio electronics and microphones
- Lukas Simonis played guitar, effects, modular synth and blippoo box.
Their track titles were either cooked up from some sort of cut-up poetry or suggested by A.I. as some sort of relation between what we hear and what we read can hardly be detected. Obviously they have a lot of fun as a duo, and they let us in on the party, scooping out the best parts from their sessions, all instrumental without vocals, except maybe for some hints at ominous sighs in “Sfinx that blows your tongue”.
