Not for the faint of heart, this LP is the debut of a brilliant Rotterdam cult band. The axis is a father and a daughter, Yono and Sidhi Achmat. Yono made fame in the late 80s, early 90s in the artrock band Hi Ho Silver. This project shows he has not lost his drive and, what’s more, handed it on to his kid. My god, this kid is as fearless, awe-inspiring and talented as you can imagine. The songs they wrote together for this album say it all. ‘Punks on Acid’ is how they call themselves, and that’s appropriate, but there’s much more in their sound (guitar by Yono,  keyboard by Otto Didak, vocals by Sidhi, bass & drums) than punk. Synth wave reminiscent of Suicide, Siouxsie and Lydia Lunch, krautrock, surf riffs, it’s all there. In 2014 they supported La Lunch, and Rats of Rafts, to name a few. This long-awaited album from 2016 is a must-have, and I don’t say that of every release!
