Vincent Epplay - Audio Technic Catalog – Notices, Méthodes & Pédagogies
In these times of great confusion, it was useful to provide an educational and technical framework so that you could take part in the mechanics of how things work.
This project has been designed to accompany and guide you as you learn to use high-fidelity equipment, in your musical and instrumental practices, and more generally in your experience of our modern world, the world of widespread technology.
‘If technical progress seemed like the promise of an exciting future,
high-fidelity stereo systems, the ‘avant-garde office’, self-driving cars, lulled to sleep by the ‘song of the computer’ and the noise of the ‘computer’,’ he says.
of the computer‘ and the noise of “connected typewriters”, these unheard-of sounds and old-fashioned voices tell a completely different story here, as suggested by the tasty titles that accompany this offbeat record-object: “Méfiez-vous des faux bruits”, “Solfège mineur et twist à la porte”, “La motivation personnelle en deux mots”’ (Libération).
This edition (gatefold sleeve) includes a vinyl record and a DVD with videos to help you learn or practise, as well as digital versions of the tracks on the record.
Audio Technic Catalog is the 3rd part of the ‘Sound Library’ series initiated by Vincent Epplay with the label, following Sound Effects (2004) and Le disque contre l’insomnie – hypnose (2007). Like its predecessors, this project is conceived as a whole, integrating visuals, text and music.
According to Vincent Epplay (1964, Nice, France) who is a French visual and sound artist whose main purpose is to create situations for listening by staging sound and interrogating its mode of distribution and reception.
