Tristan Perich - Active Field
Tristan Perich, the man who gave us the 1-bit Symphony, has released a series of his compositions on CD, for acoustic instrumentation with 1-bit electronics. These works are inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code. The WIRE Magazine describes his compositions as “an austere meeting of electronic and organic.”The tastefully designed packaging includes the full musical scores printed in poster form. The works are duos between percussion, winds, harpsichord, strings and his 1-bit electronics.
Active Field is for 10 violins (Ensemble Signal, conducted by Brad Lubman) and 10-channel (!) 1-bit electronics. Throughout its 25 minutes, it floats through orchestral, dramatic, lyrical and austere atmospheres, moving between organic and abstract electronic phases.
