This Friday 4th of December, WORM continues their series Ein Abend in WORM, celebrating German underground and avantgarde music. This time with one of the nestors of electronic music: Hamburg-based avantgarde composer Asmus Tietchens. Underbelly pops up side by side with the long-standing publisher Auf Abwegen, offering relevant music on CD, LP or tape, as well as some good reads. More here:
An important figure in non-academic electronic music and sound manipulation. His music draws on various musical genres; classical, electronic (both high and low-brow), minimalism, process music, all inform his sensibility. The light rhythmic and melodic synth tunes from the early 80s almost seem an abberation in light of his later shift towards meticulous sound manipulations.
