In French. From sound to music. 50 years of concrete research,
this survey (from 2001), is the result of a conference organised by the
Centre Pierre Schaeffer of the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris
(1998). It contains the findings of five workshops, to which musicologists, composers, performers and researchers contributed. This scholarly activity is condensed in five chapters entitled: The creative power of the machine, teaching and awakening to sound, sound solfeggio, at the crossroads of contemporary arts and geographies of electroacoustic expression, providing a wealth of observations on concrete music and the heritage of Pierre Schaeffer.
