This compilation really shows what Yoshimitsu Ichiraku aka Doravideo is all about. He is in the first place a drummer (with quite a straight forward rock-style of playing in this context) who conceived a set-up where he triggers video images with his sounds. He usually plays live in front of a video screen, where for instance a pianist plays certain parts, and those parts get rearranged and put in various sequences by the drum part. There is even one performance where he plays a ‘duet’ with himself on the screen. The results bring the viewer and listener to a different level where carefully chosen visual material gets animated as well as a kind of Bob Ostertag ‘Plunderphonic’ approach is used towards the music. A totally singular project by an artist who has been a member of bands like Omoide Hatoba, Kazuhisa Uchihashi’s Phantasmagoria and Acid Mothers Temple & the Melting Paraiso U.F.O.
