El Ombligo - Canción Psicotrópica y Jaleo
El Ombligo is the cumbia experiment of Colombian double bass player Santiago Botero. The idea behind the music of El Ombligo is to give cumbia a whole new perspective using the interpretative lines and deconstruction method found in the performance of free jazz, culminating in what can be perceived as the bastard son of Colombia’s cumbia troubadour Andres Landero and free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman.
El Ombligo members are:
Natalio Sued (ar) – Tenor sax
Oğuz Büyükberber (tr) – Bass Clarinet
Santiago Botero (co) – Bass
Marcos Baggiani (ar) – Drums
