This record however has a much clearer hillbilly/bluegrass quality than his previous releases, including some fiddle solos that can be mistaken for field recordings of inspired musicians from the heyday of traditional bluegrass music. At the same time, the record is also full of surprises and some very strange compositional ideas, all tightly unified within Flynt’s ineffable singular vision.
