The American-Dutch composer Gene Carl composed his Pink Chinese Restaurants with a wondrous mix of jazz, pop and classical music, complex yet transparent, cerebral but but not heavyhanded, this vocal work, which was based on the poetry of artist Marshall Reese, will be performed by baritone Ken Gould and an adventurous ensemble with Dutch top Dutch improvisers: With Gene Carl on piano and synth are Michael Vatcher, percussion, Jeffrey Bruinsma, violin, Wiek Hijmans, e-guitar.
