The perennial question whether or not the book is better than the film is easily answered when it’s about music. Author Mike Redman makes music, films, art and books. Anybody interested in his  documentary “Sample: not for sale”, may read this book as a guidebook to his musical odyssey through the rap-scene of New York. It is, for the time being all there is. It may take some time before the film is available on DVD, if ever. It’s a story about inspiration, vinyl, copyright infringement, DJ’s, and how to approach a celebrity. And so there is a bit of modest name dropping. Read all about the likes of  Maceo Parker, Pharrell Williams, DJ Premier, George Clinton, Public Enemy, Jay-Z and Larry Graham.
