CD from 2019, on Black Rose recordings. Theme is a return to a mineral world without any organic species, and therefore uninhabitable for human beings. Quite a radical dystopic idea that runs through the six chapters of “Schatten ohne Licht”. As in other releases, E.M. Cioran also plays a role here, but in this case also the work of a certain Ulrich Horstmann was an inspiration. All in all a deep, slow and contemplative album, painting a picture of desolation.

As a pioneer of electronic composition Tietchens’ work spans over four decades and doesn’t fit easily into any one category. Early recordings ranged from experiments with tape machines and electronic sound through to experimental pop. Later works were a more sculptural blend of abstract microelectronics, industrial sounds and musique concrete. Never straightforward or obvious, always unpredictable and innovative. His ground-breaking music inspires many electronic music artists of today.
