Jani Christou - Untitled
The Greek composer Jani Christou (1926-1970) had his life tragically cut short when, just outside Athens, he was killed in a car accident. One of the greatest voices of the Greek avant-garde was therefore silenced. The CD contains some of his greatest pieces. The first piece, Enantiodromia for Orchestra, was written between 1965 and 1968, followd by “Praxis” for piano and stringochestra, the tape piece “Epicycle”, “Anaparastasis III” for instrumental ensemble, tapes and actor; “Mysterion (Prolog and speakertext)” for tapes, “Anaparastasis I” (“The Baritone”) for Bariton and Chamber ensemble with small chorus, and the second version of “Praxis” for piano and 11 stringplayers.
