IMA Fiction - Portrait #8: Electric Indigo

Electric Indigo aka Susanne Kirchmayr was interviewed by Michaela Schwentner in 2015 and filmed in Berlin, Leipzig, Vienna and in trains from Berlin to Leipzig and back.
Duration: 22:00. Language: German with English subtitles.

Kirchmayr is a stalwart of Vienna’s electronic music scene, from her earliest days as a radio DJ in the 1980s via a DJ & producing career in Berlin from the ‘90s and into broader segments of composition and sound art afterwards.
Her DJ sets have been praised for their wide variety and clarity of vision, and a depth that could only come from a deep understanding of club music and the art of the DJ.
“Through performance, Kirchmayr developed the practice of deconstructing and reassembling source material. Spatial awareness governs her refined sonic, musical, linguistic and graphical detail, and benefits her explorations of spatio-temporal manipulations in sound design.” (Christine Kakaire)
