Various Authors - Paper Jam – The Sound Issue

Paper Jam is a book (with the ambition to become a magazine) on the qualities of paper. Paper is the only medium that can trigger all senses. The first issue of Paper Jam focuses on sound.

The book, published in The Netherlands in 2015 with the help of various sponsors, is driven by creativity, cooperation and playful fascination for paper. It includes an interview with The Paper Ensemble. A group of musicians, who use paper as instruments, explain how paper affects the audience. It is almost paper therapy. The Ensemble created their own notation to play the paper instruments.

The magazine also includes an Index of a great number of paper grades and their sounds. The Index is based upon the Autonomous Sensory Meridian Paper Response (ASMPR) or ASMR paper, an internationally accepted way to measure sounds of paper.
