Henk Lamers & Jeanne de Bont - Kamer 306 (Room 306)

70 minutes documentary about the birth of Dutch electronic pop music, 1956-1960. Philips at the time had the knowledge and facilities to design new sound equipment, and the right people happened to be around, too. Moreover, they already owned the spool tape recorder, invented during World War II. ‘Room 306’ at the Physics Research Lab (Natlab), in the Philips complex called Strijp in Eindhoven was the place where Dick Raaijmakers, Henk Badings and Tom Dissevelt worked. We see interviews with people involved, Raaijmakers being a great talker is fun to hear and see, and there’s a little tour through the studio pointing out  all equipment. This is a nice addition to the Popular Electronics Box issued by BASTA some years ago.
