Laure Ghorayeb - 33 Jours

During the 33 days of July 2006 war, Beirut-based artist, poet and art critic Laure Ghorayeb could not do much more than draw and draw and draw. Three decades earlier she produced a memorable account of the Civil War in Lebanon with her book “Temoignage” (“Testimony”). Her son Mazen Kerbaj, artist, musician and cartoonist was in the same position that summer of 2006. When the power supply was on, they posted their pieces online, filling their respective blogs with diary-like accounts of living through the war in Lebanon. This book collects Laure’s drawings and words, and make you feel the fear and horror as if first-hand. It is bi-lingual (french/arabic) and has a preface by Marc Kaloustian and Mazen Kerbaj. 116 pages, paperback.
